Optimizing code for parallel processing and vectorization can be a challenge, but help is here in the form of free web-based workshops offered by Colfax Research. Slashdot Media Senior Editor Michael Krieger outlines how to take advantage of this valuable training, sponsored by Intel.
As Intel and Moore’s law continue to bring more powerful processors to market, it can become a challenge for developers to get the most out of all the cores available. Help is here from Colfax Research, who are offering free Web-based workshops on Parallel Programming and Optimization for Intel® Architecture, including Intel® Xeon® processors and Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors. Workshops include 20 hours of Web-based instruction and up to 2 weeks of remote access to dedicated training servers for hands-on exercises.
This workshop beginning on May 23 is free to everyone thanks to Intel’s sponsorship, and consists of both instructional and self-study components. The instructional part of each workshop consists of 10 lecture sessions, each with 1 hour of theory and 1 hour of practical demonstrations. Lectures can be viewed live by joining a live broadcast, or offline as a streaming video.
In the self-study part, for a period of 3 weeks attendees are provided with remote access over SSH to Linux-based training servers with an Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor and Intel software development tools. Students can use these training servers to run exercises provided in the course or experiment with their own applications
